| French Company to Develop World Mammoth Museum Project for Yakutsk
World Mammoth Museum will be founded in Yakutsk. President of Republic Sakha (Yakutia) Vyacheslav Shtyrov was informed about concept's development by members of a special working group, organized by a president's decree. Yakutia's first deputy prime-minister Gennady Alexeev informed, that French consulting La Pas Group together with republican government develop the project. Representatives of the French side - Company's president Ludovique Lene and consultant of French Science and Research Ministry Gilles Pakeau - presented project of the World Mammoth Museum in Yakutsk.
Having listened to French specialists, Vyacheslav Styrov described his vision of the concept. Stressing, that it is a very serious and important question, Yakutia's head appealed to developers not to hasten to approve the final concept. In Yakutsk there are already museums of local lore, of ethnography, archaeology, history and culture, which are unique too. Originating World Mammoth Museum should not reproduce them, but it should complete them especially with regard to mammoths.
The new museum should become part of whole Yakutsk museum and tourist complex. Such approaches must be found primarily, and, then, building's architecture, finances, construction area will be defined. At present, there are four variants of construction places - near a brick-yard, Viliuysk high road (on Chochur-Muran mountainside), antenna field in radio center and in the near of Music higher school. Second and third variants are most preferable for concept's authors. In that question, republic's president Vyacheslav Shtyrov appealed to consider first of all transports component. The museum must be accessible to people.
