Official Talks in China

HARBIN , CHINA . On January 12, Minister of Foreign Relations of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Alexander Migalkin met with 1st Deputy Chairmen of the Government of the Heilongjiang Province.

According to the adviser of the official representative of Yakutia in China Diana Stepanova, the talks have shown the willingness to seek ensuring reliable continuation of a bilateral partnership in the development of the Agreement signed by the Sakha Republic and the Heilongjiang Province on March 22, 2004.

The both sides noted that further cooperation between regions might be strengthened more due to the following fact. Understanding the importance of strategical partnership, two neighbors-states announced the Year of Russia in China in 2006 and the Year of China in Russia in 2007.

This year Yakutia plans to participate in a raw of events dedicated to Russia in China , to conduct the Days of the Republic in Harbin with profound cultural presentation program. The Yakutian traditional house will be opened in the Russian village, ethnographic entertainment complex in Harbin . The building that is now under construction will have souvenir and jewelry shops, and restaurants with national northern cuisine.

Early, the official delegation of the Sakha Republic led by the Minister of Foreign Relations Alexander Migalkin made a number of negotiations. They met with the 1st Secretary of Harbin Committee of Chinese Communist Party, Mayor of Harbin City, Chairmen of Chinese Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries, and President of leading corporation “Hunda”.

The major topic of talks was upcoming joint events in the frame of the Year of Russia in China . In particular, the delegation managed to achieve agreement on the rent of premises in Harbin International Conference Hall for presenting the investment potential of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia).
