Successful cooperation with EC: Presentation of Yakutia
On April 26 in the Press-Centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Moscow a meeting of the Consulting Council of Constituent Entities of the Russian Federation was held on issues of international and external economic relations. The meeting examined the state of implementation of the Federal Law of January 4, 1999 On Coordination of International and Foreign Economic Ties of the Subjects of the Russian Federation.
The meeting was attended by heads of executive authorities in charge of external relations from more than 70 regions of the Russian Federation, including the officials from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia): Mr Alexander Migalkin, Minister of Foreign Relations, Ms Vera Sidorova, Deputy Minister, Mr Ivan Rojin, Counsellor to the Vice-President, Ms Anna Popova, Counsellor to the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to the President of the Russian Federation, Tatyana Afanasyeva, Lawyer of the Ministry of Foreign Relations.
The main reports were given by Secretary of State, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Grigory Karasin, and Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Head of the Delegation of Russia in the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe Ms Svetlana Orlova, who in her speech gave the presentation of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the Council of Europe in June last year as a positive example of co-operation of Russian regions with international organisations. Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council called the presentation "one of the successful and prominent events of the co-operation of Russian regions with the Council of Europe that emphasises the leading positions of Russia in the sphere of international co-operation of regions".
The Minister of Foreign Relations made a speech, where he gave proposals for making additions to the current Federal law according to the real practical results of international and external economic relations of the republic.
At the end of the meeting the delegates adopted recommendations for the continuing implementation of the Federal law.
