(conference info)
Consul General Pommersheim attended Yakutia New Year celebrations (Ysyakh), visited ALROSA, Russia's largest diamond company, and spoke with alumni of U.S. exchange programs.
While visiting the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Consul General John Mark Pommersheim co-hosted the June 26 opening of a 50-piece WWII poster exhibit featuring patriotic posters from the Soviet Union and the United States.
The National Library of Sakha (Yakutiya) provided the venue for the exhibit that the Consulate General plans to send to other regions in the Russian Far East. The exhibit allowed citizens of Yakutia to reflect on our shared WWII experience and to remember the Alaska-Siberia air bridge, a route that transited Yakutia and helped equip Soviet forces in the fight against Nazi Germany.
