Yakutia in Russian-Indian relations
YAKUTSK . Yakutia's President Vyacheslav Shtyrov is included in the executive committee of Russia Year in India (in 2008) and India Year in Russia (in 2009).
Above-mentioned events are to be held according to agreements reached in the course of Moscow Summit in December of 2005, and in order to enhance bilateral Russian-Indian relations, Republic's Ministry of Foreign Relations said.
Currently, the mentioned ministry with other regional authorities and enterprises works on the development of republic events plan.
Yakutia set up direct trade and economic relations with Indian partners in 1992. The exchange of official delegations between the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and India resulted the conclusion of agreements, memorandums, and protocols in fields of diamond-cutting industry, investment, medicine (precisely, on the delivery of medical equipments and pharmaceutical products), culture, sports, etc.
Young Indian athletes participated twice in the Children of Asia International Sport Games. Indian Culture Center was opened at Yakutsk State University .
