| YAKUTSK . On January 17, classes were cancelled for pupils of elementary and middle schools. The reason was vivid. Extreme cold remained in Yakutsk, the capital of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia).
Education Department of City Halls states that classes might be cancelled for senior pupils.
According to city's regulation, if outside temperature is below minus 45 degrees Celsius, pupils of first up to fifth years are restricted to go to school. If thermometer shows minus 48 degrees, senior pupils may have day off. If it is minus 50 degrees, students of junior high schools may stay at home. In case of minus 52 degrees nobody studies.
In the morning of Tuesday, minus 49 degrees were registered. Residents saw thick fog, drives was not glad to find low visibility. Forecasters expected further decrease, almost down to minus 53. However, it didn't happen, but will occur at next night for sure.
Weather-chart makers insist that hard frost will continue staying for a few days. On January 18, they expect to fix temperature at minus 50, humidity at 66%, light east wind, and fog.
