Spring flood water to turn Yakutsk into the little Atlantis
This year spring floodwater is going to differ noticeably from the spring tide of the previous year. If central rivers are expected to have water of the same value, northeastern regions are to have heightened water.
In regards to ice jams, the thickness of river ice is beyond norms. Even in Lensky region river ice is as thin as it was fifty years ago. The Amga river is exception; its ice thickness is over norms. This spring the risk of big ice jams is less than last year.
Meanwhile, meteorologists noted Yakutsk has got high level of snow that is twice higher than the norm. If no urgent measures won't be done by municipal authorities, the administrative center of the republic may be turned into the little Atlantis.
Floating of ice is expected to run without any troubles. However, there is always risk of the so-called second tide that comes in as a result of snow melting and atmospheric precipitates.
