278 houses remain underflooded in Yakutia village

As many as 278 apartment blocks remain in the flood area for more than three weeks in Yakutia's village of Ytyk-Kyuel, the Tatta region. The water flowed away from about 600 houses.

The Tatta river level, which flooded Ytyk-Kyuel on May 18, is gradually going down. The water has gone down by five centimeters over the past day, the press service of the Far East regional emergencies center reported,

As many as 957 people were evacuated from the flooded houses, about half of them are children. Adults were accommodated at their relatives, children live temporarily at sanatoriums and holiday homes in Yakutsk.

Thirteen settlements were affected in the flood in the Tatta region. About 700 million roubles of damages sustained from the flood. The cleanup operation is underway in the region, about 1,500 people are involved in the operation.
