Central heating to be re-started at nine dwelling houses in Markha

Work to bring central heating to apartment houses in the Yakutia Republic capital Yakutsk continues this Wednesday. According to the latest data, 12 houses with a population of 324 remain without heat, Itar-Tass learnt on Wednesday from press service head of the Yakutsk branch of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies Alexei Khlybov.

According to the press service head, “central heating systems were fully restored at another nine houses; repair teams plan to bring heat to these houses within this day”.

The heat supply mains, bringing heat to a large residential area in the Markh suburb of Yakutsk, was damaged on December 28, when the pipeline was rammed by a heavy truck, loaded with coal. A state of emergency was clamped down on Yakutsk.

A total of 117 people and 30 units of machinery are involved in overcoming aftermaths of the emergency situation. On a decision of the crisis centre, all heatless houses were distributed between eight administrative districts of Yakutsk, which helped to speed up replacement of frozen sections of pipelines and heating systems inside houses. Teams are provided with all necessary materials and machinery.

The ambient temperature in Yakutsk is now minus 30 degrees Centigrade. The temperature in the village of Artyk, Oimyakon district, is minus 50 degrees. Repair work continues there at 14 houses with a population of 135. A new suspension pipeline is being built instead of the old one which was laid down underground and which is frozen up as a result of a breakdown.

According to specialists of the emergency service, heat will be supplied to all heatless houses in Artyk around January 9-10. The population were supplied with special ovens, permitting to maintain warmth at houses.
