Twelve Exclamation Marks for Anastasia Diodorova
Russian Short Course Swimming Open Championship for Athletes with a Physical Disability took place in Nizhni Novgorod. More than 200 swimmers from 18 cities participated in the contest.
Women competed only for silver and bronze medals. 16-year-old Yakutian girl Anastasia Diodorova , a member of Moscow team, the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games participant won:
- GOLD MEDAL for 50m freestyle (!),
- GOLD MEDAL for 50m butterfly (!) ,
- GOLD MEDAL for 100m freestyle (!),
- GOLD MEDAL for 100m backstroke (!),
- GOLD MEDAL for 200m individual medley (!),
- GOLD MEDAL for 4x100m freestyle relay (!),
- GOLD MEDAL for 4x100m medley relay (!).
She set:
- a new NATIONAL RECORD for 50m freestyle (!),
- a new NATIONAL RECORD for 100m backstroke (!),
- a new NATIONAL RECORD for 200m medley (!),
- a new WORLD RECORD (41.47 seconds) for 50m butterfly (!),
- a new WORLD RECORD (as a member of Moscow team) for 4x100m freestyle relay (!).
Now Anastasia Diodorova is preparing for swimming in Britain. British Swimming Federation invited her to participate in World Cup Competition in May. She could fly for World Cup alone, but she needs team support in relay.
