A pankration winner

VIII International Pankration Tournament dedicated to Zholan Asenov, the 1st Central Asian master of sambo, was completed in Kazakhstan last week.

The tournament had 43 fighters from Kazakhstan , Uzbekistan , Kyrgyzstan , Azerbaijan , Bashkortostan (Russia), Daghestan (Russia), and Yakutia (Russia).

Yakutia was represented by Ivan Pulyaevsky (65 kg), Bashir Gagiev (70 kg), and Mukhamed Aushev (80 kg). Latter managed to conquer the tournament. Thus, he earned a pass to the world pankration championship that will be also held in Astana , Kazakhstan , on December 10, 2006. Bashir Gagiev gained the second position in his weight group.
