The World Championship started in Yakutsk
The World Championship for International and Russian Checkers has been launched in Yakutsk on October 10, 2006.
The tournament consists of three sets with four games each. The first set has been playing in Yakutsk. The second and third ones will take place in Kiev, Ukraine, on October 16-26.
On the first day of the championship one game was played.
Twice champion of Europe and the world Darya Tkachenko ( Ukraine ) and thrice-repeated champion of the world Tamara Tansykkuzhina (Bashkartostan / Russia ) competed with each other in international checkers.
Within the frame of the tournament Belarusian Andrey Valyuk and Yakutian Gavriil Kolesov have played the set in Mirnyj. They compete in checkers-64. Opponents are really worthy of each other.
Valyuk is the gold winner of a world fast checkers tournament, and the silver and bronze winner of Planet Tournaments. Kolesov appears not to be less titled. He is a fivefold champion of the world in checkers-64 (Russian checkers).
