 Andrey S. Borisov is the minister of culture and intellectual development of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), art director of the Oyunsky Academic Theatre, laureate of the National USSR and RF prizes, Honored Art Worker of Russia and the Sakha Republic , the USSR people's deputy (1989-1992).
Andrey Savvich was born in 1951 in Yakutia in the Kobyasky ulus. He graduated from the Schepkin Drama School at the USSR Maliy Theatre (in 1974) and from the Lunacharsky Director Faculty (in 1982). At the Oyunsky Sakha Academic Theatre he has been stage director and art director since 1983 and 1991 correspondently.
Andrey Borisov played a crucial role in the intellectual revival and the development of the Sakha Art. Borisov's performances have filled the gaps in history, opened the sense of researches conducted by the Sakha intellectual leaders, have set moral issues in performances done in the West-European style, and have given the art interpretation of the Yakut people philosophy based on national epics and works of writers-thinkers Anempodist Sofronov, Alexey Kulakovsky, and Platon Oyunsky. All these plays are topical, and all of them concern a nowadays man.
The rare combination of the simplicity and delicacy, folklore and professionalism, the lyric origin and mighty epic poetry make his performances apprehensible without losing its deep philosophical content. Brilliant, full of internal expression plays (staged in creative cooperation with scene-designer Gennady Sotnikov and marked on the prestigious national and international festivals) were included into the Gold Reserves of Drama Art: “My Desired Blue Coast…”, “Khaniduo and Khalerkhaa”, “Songs Left by Me”, “Sezuan Kind Man”, “Alampa, Alampa…”, “Kudangsa the Great”, “Dorogunov – Human Child”, “Shaman's Dream”, “King Lir”, “Kyys Debiliye” and many others. On these plays the whole actor skill school was formed, and the whole generation of the spectators was brought up. Latter admired and comprehended the beauty and greatness of the native culture.
For 13 years A.S. Borisov has been the Republic Minister of Culture. By his effort culture was raised up to the rank of major national priorities. In the republic culture life gained high-grade, diverse and rich.
The strong legislative base for culture development was created. A real national property is the Higher School of Music. Its students have already won the love of abroad classical music admirers. Circus art is developing successfully. Over the last years material and technical basis of theaters was improved much. Basis for manpower training was created. The Arctic State University of Culture and Art has been opened.
Andrey S. Borisov is the initiator of these and many other positive tendencies, and he is a real ascetic of the Republic spirituality. |
