Rhythmic gymnast
Before the start of the 3rd International Sports Games “Children of Asia” (2004) Violetta Ivanova was considered as the indispensable candidate on a victory.
Responsibility
Very few people considered the fact that the huge responsibility has laid down on shoulders of young Yakut girl. But she managed to go through and prove that occurrence of masters of a high class might happen even far from the center of Russia.
Three female gymnasts from Krasnoyarsk team and her friend Karina Shmeleva from the Center of Olympic preparation ( Novosibirsk area) were considered as her major competitors. Earlier Violetta had met them at competitions and training camps.
The Games “Children of Asia -2004” were the fourth international tournaments for Violetta. Besides, she participated at the Russian Olympics of Pupils and the national competition “Pacific Region”.
The performance with Indian clubs is one of her favorite programs.
Beauty and grace
Violetta's victory at “Children of Asia” proved that it's real to develop rhythmic-sportive gymnastics in Yakutia and the Yakut girls can go in for this beautiful kind of sport successfully. Some mothers are afraid to give the daughters to rhythmic-sportive gymnastics, because they regard it as traumatical as Olympic gymnastics. Actually it's very difficult to get the trauma, unless if the club will fall on a head.
The girls engaged in gymnastics are always tightened and beautiful. For example, many leaders of TV such as Oksana Pushkina, Yana Batyrshina and almost all of the girls of the dance-group “Todes” were going in for this kind of sport.
A trip to Athenes
By the decree of Yakutia's President Vyacheslav Shtyrov, Violetta was granted with the trip to the Olympic Games. Her coach, world-renowned Irina Wiener, having heard about it, said “We'll meet at the Olympic Games.”
Not to repose on one's laurels
After the victory over “Children of Asia” she had a rest only two days and for the third day she asked father to bring her to a sports hall.
Violetta is one of a few sportspersons who managed to participate at “Children of Asia” in 2000 and 2004. If in 2000 she joined the republic team casually (before the beginning of competitions the part of girls from the team got rubella and Ivanova was invited from reserve team), then in 2004 her participation was predicted.
Stimulus to victory
In 2000 she took a penultimate place and told that she want to win next time. Winners of those competitions were awarded with personal computers and Violetta had a dream to have her own one. One more stimulus for victory she's got. Before the tournament-2004 Irina A. Wiener told her “If you win, you will rest for 15 days and if you don't, next day you will depart to Moscow .
Fans
During competitions the tribunes were absolutely near to participators that created some problems. The main one was that fans from tribunes distracted Violetta. At other competitions nobody from tribunes (except the coach) is allowed to approach to sportsmen. It turns out, that our fans in some cases stirred to Violetta. This kind of sport is specific and here it is necessary to hold balance and keep coordination. It is difficult to do all this, when you are distracted. For example, in Sydney Alina Kabaeva showed an excellent performance, but made a mistake on a trifle.
About popularity
Young female gymnast concerned easy when during the competitions she was officially presented as “already well-known Violetta Ivanova”. Anyway, nobody recognizes her in the street. Probably they would, if she will appear in tights.
Violetta has a niece. When relatives say the niece must be a graceful gymnast like her aunt, Violetta replies “No. I want her to have normal childhood.”
The award for work
After Children of Asia – 2004 businessmen presented her notebook.
In conclusion
Violetta has seen the results of her hard work. It appeared for her to be an additional stimulus for the further employment.

Interview: Semen F. Ivanov about his daughter Violetta
After her victories at different international competitions, Violetta Ivanova is well- known enough. Let's back in history and ask Semen F. Ivanov, why he decided to give his daughter to rhythmic-sportive gymnastics.
- I liked this kind of sports very much. Besides I saw, that there were all makings in Violetta for becoming ballerina or gymnast. At that time she was 6 year old. But in choreographic school they took children since nine years, therefore I brought my daughter to the Chidren Sports School №1. Her first trainer was Lyudmila N. Koverzneva. Violetta liked it and was training on her own much time. When our trainer has left in a maternity leave, we stood alone … Then I decided "It is necessary to go to Moscow !" We bought the tickets and went to the Center of Olympic preparation.
-So simply? But why did you decide to show a daughter to Irina Wiener precisely?
- I realized she was born to be sportperson. She's got strong character, purposefulness, huge working capacity. I hoped that my endeavor would work out. I wanted to show her to the well-known coach!
- Was it difficult to catch and attract the world-famous trainer?
- Yes, it was. But we met her. Irina Aleksandrovna was content with Violetta and the center accepted her. At once my daughter departed to the training camp.
- Tell me about her trainings in the center. How many hours should Violetta train to be in excellent form?
- When she started, coaches told her: “Before you were going only in for physical culture!” So Violetta had start from scratch. It was more difficult for her than for other girls because she was 11 years. I remember when we have just arrived to Moscow , Violetta participated at the championship of Moscow and took almost the last position… But now she is in the G8 of Moscow! It is necessary to train for seven hours daily to be there! From 8.30 mornings she and her mates start training and finish only in the evening, and so six times a week. They work on choreography, plastique and with hand apparatus. This center has the best Russian trainers and sportspersons. Irina Aleksandrovna always says: “The Oak grows among oaks”. That's why both the well-known champions and absolutely young sportspersons train together. The girls see it's not easy to get Olympic medals! There is no discount whether you are a champ or not. You must work hard!
- And what about comprehensive school?
- Girls study in extern, i.e. they do not sit at a school desk but only pass certification, receive necessary consultations in subjects.
- Who was first instructor of Violetta in the Center?
- Zlata S. Tulubaeva. She could gain trust and love of the girl at once. She was training Violetta almost two years. By the way, later we persuaded her to come to work in Yakutsk under the contract. And now she is the chief trainer of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) at rhythmic-sportive gymnastics. I hope we will raise interest to that kind of sports in our republic.
- And now who is Violetta's trainer?
- Nora N. Shatalina. She prepared my daughter for the III International Children's Games "Children of Asia" (2004) and Violetta became an absolute champion.
- What are your daughter's achievements?
- Violetta is the prize-winner of Far East federal district of 2003. In 2004 on the international tournament in Izmir ( Turkey ) she took the third place in multiathlon, and got two gold, silver and bronze medals in hand apparatus. The same year she became the winner of the regions championship in a command. In 2005 in championships MPSU and “Yunost Rossii” she won bronze, became the winner of the international tournaments in Finland and Romania and took the first place in the international tournament “Khrustalnye zvezdochki” in Vladimir . In the All-Russia tournament under the program of sports masters “Veliky Novgorod” and in the tournament in Helsinki she became the bronze prize-winner.
- What character traits of your daughter do you like?
- You know, it's very hard to study in the Center of Olympic Preparation . Imagine many hours of trainings, being in training camps all the time plus far from home and family. Many children can't stand. Violetta had such difficult period. But she has fighting spirit! I was very proud of her when she said “Daddy, I will continue. I was training in the sweat of my brow all this time and I can't leave it all off. I wish to be a champion!” She is very responsible for her study and she knows that she will become a trainer and someday she will open the same center in Yakutsk .
- What is her favorite hand apparatus?
- Indian clubs. And the most difficult hand apparatus for Violetta is the tape.
- What is Violetta interested in besides gymnastics?
- She draws, sews, does one's hair and takes a great interest in a winding of gymnastics hand apparatus.
- The big sports demand great investments …
- Yes, we had to sacrifice many things, we sold a car, we live at relatives now, we go through various inconveniences… The considerable sports endurance is too required to parents of young sportspersons! I am grateful to the general director of JSC “Almazy Anabara” to Matvej N. Yevseyev who has been supporting us all these years. Owing to this person Violetta became a sportsperson and now represents the republic and the country at various international competitions.
- You are called as "father" of rhythmic-sportive gymnastics in our republic …
- Yea, maybe. I think I made many things for development of that sport in our republic. I am convinced that Yakut female gymnasts will become champions and sport stars! And they can apply for a rank of! In fact our people have the feeling of a rhythm, power and jumperity. So it all depends on us.
- Recently the Republic Federation of Rhythmic-Sportive Gymnastics has been founded. Its president is the general director of JSC “Almazy Anabara” Matvej N. Yevseyev and you are an executive director. How will this federation help developing rhythmic-sportive gymnastics in our republic?
- M any people think that the president of federation will solve only financial questions. But it isn't so. The president must strengthen the command for hard work. If we make in time, we will have both experts, and trainers. We will get results. Not at once. After a while. We need time to start. Though rhythmic-sportive gymnastics exists in Yakutia for a long time, I consider we must start from square one. It will be a new birth of the most beautiful kind of sports. The president Matvej Nikolaevich will support financially, but at the same time and demand qualitative work. And we shall try to do our best. I think, if everyone makes all efforts, we will have excellent results!
