The most ancient wood fragment in the world was found in Yakutia. The fragment is 150 million years old. The hardened log with white-goldish core play all shades of semi-precious stone on its section; that is why it was called “wooden agate”. According to annals, similar "semi-precious stones” were found in Yakutia in XVIII century. They were washed away from coasts of the rivers in the same manner as bones of mammoths.
