ARCHEOLOGY

“Snakes Covered with Shell”

The first teeth of herbivorous dinosaurs found in Russia were detached from the rock adjournment aged 140,000000 years in 1988. Herbivorous dinosaur , a 5-7-metre long creature, was the largest animal across the territory of today's Yakutia.

Ylymnyr and Tete (small towns) are not the only places where, - as local people figuratively called them, - “snakes covered with shell of a turtle” lived. Archaelogists also find their remains in the mouth of the Ylygyr River , in two locations along the Kutyar-Yuryakh stream (natural boundary Marah), by the Peleduy River and in the mouth of the Maluy Murbai River in Mirninsky and Lesky regions.

Paleontologists suppose the coasts then were surrounded by dense vegetation. While herbivorous dinosaurs living at western coast of the sea consumed plants, predatory ones hunted them . The result of expedition of 2003 proves it: both species' teeth, vertebrae, edges, presumably pelvic bones, thin lamellar bones of a skull and a claw of a predator, - were found.
