In a film by Andrey Borisov after the novel by Nickolay Luginov is shown as a man, who developed, changed the world outlook and the course of history and created a powerful state, Empire.
The first series of the film describes three periods of his life. His childhood - from the prophecy, his birth till the death of his father are evidence of a genetic tendency of Temüjin to messianic deeds. His youth is full of ordeals and destiny signs. His maturity is presented by his conscious attempts to unite separate tribes. Proclaiming him to be Khan is the first step for Temüjin to do great deeds. Tragic historical contradictions made his figure ambiguous.
Psychologically the film shows the character's inner world. He starts to feel and think having endured life difficulties. He becomes aware of becoming a figure of the state who consolidated Asia and established Yasu, a common law. Mystical and mythological point of view describes the Yakut legend about Genghis Khan revealing power and attraction of the Tengrian religion, that leads from Paganism to Monotheism. And, finally, in the film from geographic and cultural point of view the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) represents northern Asia , having Central Asian traditional knowledge, adjusted by the permafrost. This level interacts with a mystic space, represented by a shaman Khokhochoy, a poetic space, represented by Djamukha, a friend of Genghis Khan and later his enemy, and a cosmic space of Temüjin's mind.
The film tends to medieval epic poems about historical events describing deeds of heroes, elected by people, to so called ‘gestures'.
The film authors have a number of goals such as to combine esthetics of the shown period and theatrical effectiveness, an epic gesture olonkho and nowadays signs, the use of historical literature and the author's version, remaining aloof from religion and practicing religion. The roles are played by actors from Tyva , Mongolia , Buryatia, Yakutia, Altai.
The first episode, made in April of 2005 in the Verkhoyansk mountains, paced the film. The next episode, shot on the holy mountain Erd, where in ancient times Central Asian tribes gathered to play sacral Erd games, showed that the film has had its heart, his hero. The blessed Baikal land, which Yakut people greeted and asked for permission, responded with rains, wind, thunder, lightening, high water in the Anga river, one of the three hundred rivers, flowing into the Baikal lake. Blocking their way through all trials the land finally endowed the shooting team with a wonderful sunny day, the sky being flown by picturesque white clouds over shimmering colors of mountains, rainbow and drizzling warm rain.
pon arrival from the Verkhoyansk region Andrey Borisov, according to him, feeling that ordinary people will do their best to help, recognized that this film was ready to be made, we are ready. Returning from the lake Baikal it was clear that the sky had heard him. |
