[Synopsis]
Before Russians' coming in XVIII century, numerous northern tribes dwelled in Yakutia. They fought against each other uninterruptedly . As legends say, it was ‘the century of battles' (‘kyrgys uyata' in the Sakha language).
Ting Biis tribe at the head of Magan Makga attacked Tumat tribe unexpectedly. A ssailants destroyed almost all tumats, but old man Bakamda and his little grandson Dagancha managed to survive. When a boy attained the age of youth, his grand gave him the full knowledge of martial art. When a boy became a real warrior, his mentor said to him: ‘Go to Vilyui , find Ting Biis and take revenge on Magan Makga for your killed father'.
When summer came into force, Dagancha started on a journey to Vilyui . He found his congeners in the very time when those were preparing for waging a war against Ting Biis. Tumats accepted Dagancha. Early in the morning they attacked foes, demolished the whole tribe – men, women, and children, and took some prisoners. At the end of the battle Dagancha met Eregechey, Magan Makga's son. Violent fight occurred. Dagancha eventually pierced his opponent with a spear. Vendetta was conducted.
Just before the internecine battle, Eregechey had hided his younger sister Nyrbachan in a secret hole. At night she got out of the shelter and floated away down the Vilyui River .
At that time Inchim tribe at the head of Tuoga Baatyr busted up with Tygyn, the leader of Khangalasses . As a result of the fallout, Tuoga Baatyr's people left the Great Tuymaada Valley , headed for the area of Vilyui and settled in Uluu Sysyy Valley . However, peaceful life did not expect them on the new place. They had to overcome tumaats with warrior Dagancha. Latter were forced to sail down the Lena River to the Arctic Ocean and disappear in the vast expanses of the North.
After long wandering, a lone girl met the Sakha elders. Old woman Khattyana and old man Mokhsoho liked and accepted her. At that time the Great Tygyn gained a glorious victory over disobedient Sakha tribes in the Vilyui area. On his way back home the legendary war lord stayed with the old couple. The Great Tygyn saw orphan girl Nyrbachan, and decided to give her a shelter. She changed her name. That was the start of another legend, the story of the Great Tuymaada. |
