Diamond Mining Industry

The share in industrial production is more than 60 per cent. The main producer of diamonds is ALROSA JSC. Besides, diamonds are produced by ALROSA – Nyurba JSC, Nizhne-Lenskoye JSC, Almazi Anabara Ltd, CDM – Olenyok Ltd. Balanced profit of them increased by 1.9 times and totaled 25.3 billion rubles for January – November, 2004.

Diamond Lapidary Industry

The index of production performance is 108.9 per cent to 2003 and the share in industry is 4 per cent. Diamonds in amount of 305 USD million with growing 127 per cent are produced to 2003, exported in amount of 340 USD million with growing 129 per cent. The largest companies are: ALROSA JSC, Tuymaada – Daimond Ltd, ComDragMet SUE (State unitary enterprise), EPL – Diamond Ltd NPC, Choron – Daimond Ltd.

In 2004 the Republican Law “About State Regulation of Relations within Diamond Lapidary Industry” is adopted. It sets the creation of favorable conditions for lapidary enterprises activity in the Republic.

Jewelry Industry

The main index of production performance in 2004 amounted to 107.7 per cent, production level was 580 million rubles, exported jewelry – 234.3 million rubles. The largest companies of the industry are Zoloto Yakutii JSC, SakhaYuvelir Ltd, AldanZoloto JSC. Profit for January – November of 2004 is increased in 1.7 times and amounts 76 million rubles. Special trade enterprise Dragotsennosti Yakutii Ltd is created with resource more than 95 million rubles, which will realize production of factories: CDM – Khandyga Ltd, CDM – Nyurba Ltd, Crystall – 2001 Ltd. Sales activity is expanded: Trade House in China (SUE CDM in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the new Trade Houses in Moscow, Khabarovsk, St. Petersburg are opened.

Jewelry enterprises of the Republic are constant participants of exhibitions on Russian and international levels. It contributes to promotion of yakut production in Russian and foreign markets.
