Timber & Wood Processing Industry

The share in industry production makes 0.7 per cent. Lumber industry produced timber production with a cost of 839 million rubles, including industrial wood – 407 thousand cubic meters, sawn goods – 211 thousand cubic meters.

The Republic has considerable timber resources, which occupies 46 per cent of all territory. The Far East region has 25 per cent of Russian forests and 36 per cent of wood reserves including this index is due to the Republic.. The forest territory takes about 143,0 mln. hectare or 47 per cent of the Republic territory.

The valuable potential of wood is 8,8 bln. cu. m. – 62 per cent of it is taken by reconstruction wood. It takes 35,4 mln. cu. m. with the cutting area here.

Thus the occurrence of numerous exploitable timber resourses with the high-concenrated reserve on unit area and well-qualified wood make the south regions of Yakutia base for Forest Industry Development.

In 23 regions of the Republic there are 426 forest industrial companies. 29 of it 14 logging companies, providing 53 per cent of lumbering and 15 woodwork (including 8 large facilities equipped with imported technique, exporting wood with the world standart). The production powers of the main companies is about 180,4 thn. cu. m. of final product by one harvest per year.

The biggest wood producting companies of the Republic are: “Almaz” JSC, “Almazi Anabara” JSC, “Tabaginskaya lesnaya kompaniya” JSC, “Alrosa-Lesprom” JSC, “Almazlesprom” JSC, “Aldanzolotoles” JSC, “Belkachinsky lespromhoz” Ltd., “Mass” JSC.

The main goal of the Forest Industry is to increase the value of forest and timber export.

There was intensive work on developing this industry last years. The companies increased productions of parquet, furniture, oilcloth, assimilated facility useful housebuilding. All the production is made with the equipment from Germany, Finland and Australia.
