Physical & Mathematical Forum

In June, 1999 the Physical and Mathematical Forum «Lensky Krai» was founded according to a decree proclaimed by the President of the Sakha Republic on a permanent site so there would remain a continuity to the traditions of physical and mathematical education. Another reason was to consolidate a creative potential of leading scientists from Russia and Yakutia.

The Forum has a Summer School which has been operating for five years. Pupils from the forms 8 toll, students, post-gradu ate students from Yakutsk, Novosibirsk, Moscow universities and other educational stablishments in the central regions, Siberia and the Far East, teachers specializing in intensive mathematics and physics come to the Summer School. Consequently they receive instruction in the most recent fields of mathematics and physics by leading specialists from universities and other educational establishments in Yakutsk, Novosibirsk, Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Many students and teachers are grateful to the Forum for it has brought them in contact with interesting people they would possi bly never have met. They were also proud to have heard lectures by a Nobel prize-winner, the academician Z. I. Alfyorov and the rec tor of the Moscow State University, the academician V.A.Sadovnichy.

Since 2002 summer camps of the Forum «Lensky Krai» have been organized in Nuyrbinski, Tattinski, Khangalasski and Namski regions.
