The Nomadic Schools in Sakha-Yakutia

Legislative and normative base:

1. Temporary Regulation of nomadic schools of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (1994).
2. Educational plan of nomadic schoolsof the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (since 1994).
3. Advisory letter of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation on organising the education of children living a nomadic life with parents (February 24, 2000 No 349/11-13).
4. Decree of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) No 1229-p of October 15, 2004 on "State support of nomadic school operations in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)". In order to implement this Decree the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has allocated funds for the year 2005, a design competition has been declared for creating the building of a nomadic school. All the base schools have received mini physics, chemistry, and biology laboratories as well as additional books in 2004.
5. Decree of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) No 228 of April 22, 2005 on "Approving the Concept of the system of nomadic schools of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)". In order to implement the Decree a project of interdepartmental purpose programme of developing the nomaidc schools of the republic is being devised on the basis of UNESCO project "Promoting the spread of literacy among schoolchildren from indigenous people through strenghtening the potential of the system of community education for indigenous people of the North of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)" and the State Programme of Education Development "Basics of developing the nomadic community schools" for the years 2007-2011.
