The Nomadic Schools

In Oleneksky district

Evenki nomadic garden-school has worked under herd ¹5 since 1990, as Kharyyalakh elementary school's branch. Headmaster is Kirillina Klara Vasil'evna.

Distance from the base school: 50 km .

School expanses were provided by ÌÎÓ ”Kharyyalakh elementary school”.

Schedule of children' leaving to the herds: twice in year (summer, spring).

Transport: snowmobiles in winter, full-summer-helicopter.

Material and technical basis: children are teached in specially sewed tentage with chauffer.

Schedule and educational program are individual.

School successfully complete tasks closely connected to parents in conditions of inclement arctic tundra. Children are broke in traditional economy's activities, saving cultural heritage of nomadic evenki.

Besides compulsory subjects, pupils learn such subjects of regional elements as “Elements of reindeer-breeding” with practice lessons, “Ornamental arts and sewing”, national kinds of sport. Performance: 100%, quality: 33,3%.

Pupil's number: 11. Pupil's number increases about from 15 to 20 children in summer.

Education management in consort with Committee of family and childhood's problem under the President organize summer camp on health promotion and labour nurturing if pupils.

Main activities of parents: Reindeer-breeding is single sourcing of survival as ethno for the native-born nations.

Reconstruction, saving, development of reindeer-breeding are directly attributed to nomadic school. Reindeer-breeder profession for young men are not attractive by absence of good life conditions.

Lifestyle hasn't changed: target in any season, stove, plank bed.

Results: Positive role of nomadic schools is incontestable in family, patriotic education.

Only recent years, nomadic school has prepared 8 reindeer-breeders, they are already adults and can take a herd of deer within responsibility.

Problems: high rates of helicopter transportation.
