The range of mountains discovery, called Chersky range, is the biggest later geographical discovery in the world . It is the biggest natural memorial to the man – the North- Eastern Siberia explorer I.D. Chersky, died in 1892 during the researches on the Kolyma River .
The Chersky range was discovered by the Yakutia north-east expedition of the explorer S.V. Obrutchev (V.A. Obrutchev's son) and marked on the world geographical map in 1926. The range length is on 300 km more than that in the Alps ; separate altitudes are on 350m higher than those in Carpathians. Back
