Gorgeous Pillars

The most often-visited tourist object in Yakutia is the Lena Pillars (Lenskye Stolby), one of the most beautiful geological monuments. The regular tourist trips Yakutsk – the Lena Pillars started in 1967.

In 1832 the student of local lore N.S. Schukin wrote: “If English tourists travel around the world to find a great impression, I advise them to visit the Lena Pillars. They would be stunned inhere”.

Very thin aloft and thus very beautiful natural stone pillars were put with the Old Kembriysky limestones and dolomites (535-520 bil. years). They are situated in the Siney River lowlands.
